Houston Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans Reveals Extent of Tank Dell’s Season-Ending Injury
Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans revealed on Monday that wide receiver Tank Dell will miss the remainder of the season due to a horrific injury he sustained on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Dell tore his ACL and dislocated his kneecap during the game, and will undergo surgery for the second consecutive year.
Ryans stated that the injury was severe, saying “He dislocated the knee, he tore the ACL, other things there he’ll have to get repaired. So he’ll be out for the year.”
Dell’s teammates were visibly shaken by the injury, with quarterback C.J. Stroud admitting to being emotional about the incident, saying “It’s not easy for me to sit there and be emotional… it’s something that we all go through in life, and it’s easy to be a fake tough guy.”
Stroud also addressed criticism for showing his emotions, saying “It’s good for young men and women out there, kids who are brought up… not to let anyone see you emotional. Don’t let anyone see you down, and yeah, there’s some truth to that in certain aspects, but there’s also life, and I think it was good for people to see me in that light and knowing that there is still a human factor to me, and I’m a normal person.”
Dell finishes the season with 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns.
