Taylor Sheridan, one of the most notable creators of the 21st century, has made a name for himself in both movies and television as a director, writer, producer, creator, and actor. While Sheridan’s biggest projects are currently in the TV sphere, including the Yellowstone franchise and its spinoffs, he has also made a name for himself in films. Sheridan was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for his 2016 film Hell or High Water and directed the well-received mystery thriller Wind River, which is getting a sequel without his involvement.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado has become a hit on streaming, currently holding the number 10 slot on Prime Video. The action sequel film, directed by Stefano Sollima, continues the story of the drug war, featuring a star-studded cast including Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Isabela Merced, Catherine Keener, Jeffrey Donovan, Matthew Modine, Shea Whigham, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. However, the film will be leaving Prime Video on December 31, giving audiences just one more day to catch the Sicario sequel.

While the sequel’s ratings dropped from the first film’s 92%, scoring a 62% Tomatometer, Sicario: Day of the Soldado is still a gripping thriller with a strong leading cast that is able to hold the audience’s attention. Sheridan’s knack for storytelling shines in a film that blends pulpy crime genre tropes with neo-western elements and social commentary on the unending cycle of violence at the U.S.-Mexico border, making the sequel compelling.
