There’s Still Hope for Kingsman
Taron Egerton, the star of the Kingsman franchise, has offered a new update on the future of the series, contradicting a recent statement from 20th Century executive Steve Asbell. Asbell said that there are “no plans on doing them anytime soon,” but Egerton remains hopeful that a third film could still happen.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Egerton stated that he believes Asbell’s comments were made by someone from Fox, and that he and director Matthew Vaughn are still interested in making another installment. Vaughn has previously confirmed that the script for Kingsman 3 is being written, and Egerton expressed his desire to do one more film in the series.
Asbell’s statement could simply be rooted in the lack of a concrete script, and Egerton’s comments suggest that the door is still open for a third film. Vaughn and Egerton have repeatedly expressed their interest in returning for another installment, and if Vaughn finishes the script and reassembles the cast, 20th Century might be more willing to produce a final movie for Egerton’s Eggsy.
Fans of the franchise have been left feeling uncertain about the future of Kingsman, but Egerton’s comments offer a glimmer of hope. The prequel, The King’s Man, demonstrated the world’s potential for additional projects, and a third film could make up for the more lukewarm installments that followed the first.
