Taiwan Stocks Fall as Losses in Key Sectors Weigh
Taiwan’s stock market closed lower on Tuesday, with losses in the technology, finance, and construction sectors leading the decline. The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) lost 0.37% at the close.
Despite the overall decline, some stocks managed to rise significantly. Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:) led the gainers, surging 70.12% or 11.92 points to trade at 28.92, a 5-year high. King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:) and Harvatek Corp (TW:) also rose 10.00% each to end at 73.70 and 23.10, respectively.
On the other hand, Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:) fell 7.98% or 1.30 points to trade at 15.00, a 5-year low. Mao Bao Inc (TW:) and Ta Liang Technology Co Ltd (TW:) also declined 7.42% and 7.14%, respectively.
The number of falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the TWSE by 0 to 0.
In commodities, crude oil for February delivery rose 0.96% or 0.68 to $71.67 a barrel, while Brent oil for delivery in March increased 0.88% or 0.65 to $74.64 a barrel. Gold futures for February delivery fell 0.09% or 2.36 to trade at $2,615.74 a troy ounce.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 107.76, while the USD/TWD exchange rate rose 0.15% to 32.80 and the TWD/CNY rate remained unchanged at 0.22.
