Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal Reunite for Heartwarming Hellmann’s Super Bowl Ad
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have reunited to recreate the most famous moment from their 1989 romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally” in a 30-second commercial for Hellmann’s mayonnaise. The ad sees the pair enjoying lunch at Katz Deli, the site of the infamous fake orgasm scene from the movie.
In the ad, Ryan’s character is dissatisfied with her turkey sandwich, so she adds a little mayonnaise to bump up the flavor. With one bite, she begins making the same fake orgasm sounds as she did in the original film, with Crystal quipping, “This one’s real.” The commercial ends with a surprise appearance from Sydney Sweeney, who says, “I’ll have what she’s having,” recreating the famous punchline.
Ryan and Crystal initially teased their reunion on social media last week, posting a photo of themselves sitting in the same set as the final moments of the film. “It’s finally happening, we’re reuniting for something iconic. Can’t wait to show you all soon,” they captioned the post.
The ad was filmed to mark the 35th anniversary of “When Harry Met Sally,” which has become a classic rom-com. “I’m hoping it’ll be fun for fans to revisit this scene with its new star, Hellmann’s mayo,” Ryan said in a statement. Crystal added, “The opportunity to return to Katz’s Deli with Meg was a no brainer. Thanks to Hellmann’s, who came up with the concept and wrote a really funny spot, we’re bringing some laughs and nostalgia and helping ‘When Harry Met Sally’ celebrate its 35th anniversary during the Big Game this year.”
