Pittsburgh Steelers Struggle Without Pickens

Ad

The Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled in the past three games without wide receiver George Pickens, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury. During his absence, quarterback Russell Wilson has averaged just 6.2 yards per attempt, and the offense has managed only 167.7 yards per game. In contrast, Wilson averaged 8.7 yards per attempt and the offense put up 271.0 yards per game in the six games Pickens played alongside him.

The Steelers’ struggles have put them in danger of losing their lead in the AFC North, as they are currently tied with the Baltimore Ravens at 10-5. Next Gen Stats gives the Steelers a 39% chance of winning the division, while the Ravens have a 61% chance.

The hope is that Pickens’ return to the lineup will help jumpstart the Steelers’ offense against the stingy Kansas City Chiefs defense and keep their hopes alive in the AFC North. However, the team will also be without backup quarterback Justin Fields, who is listed as questionable due to an abdominal injury. Wide receivers Ben Skowronek (hip) and Joey Porter Jr. (knee) have also been ruled out.
