Snoop Dogg Under Fire For Performing at Cryptocurrency-Shilling Trump’s Pre-Inaugural Party
Rapper Snoop Dogg, 53, has sparked anger among his fanbase after reportedly performing at an exclusive party ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration, where the newly-minted AI and Crypto Czar announced his plans. The event was hosted by a former PayPal co-founder and promised to be one of the country’s most private and exclusive fundraising parties.
Some fans took to social media, calling Snoop’s decision as “culturally embarrassing” and “disrespectful”. Previously, Snoop had been critical of Trump’s presidency, so his sudden show of support at the event confused many. Other stars, like Billy Ray Cyrus and the Village People, had also confirmed attendance at Trump-related events.
Other celebrities, however, have managed to stay largely mum on whether they will accept invitations to similar events. American Idol star Carrie Underwood made headlines last week when she publicly confirmed she’d be performing for Trump’s ceremony, with LGBTQ+ fans outraged over her initial support ofgay marriage and willingness to perform as part of President-elect’s installation.
Meanwhile, Nelly confirmed he’ll participate in the annual Inaugural Liberty Ball; tickets for similar events have hit as high as $5,000 per entry.
