Snoop Dogg Responds To Kendrick Lamar’s Line About Him On ‘GNX’
Snoop Dogg has responded to a line from Kendrick Lamar on the track “RAW” from his collaborative project with J. Cole and A$AP Rocky, “GNX: The Second Breakfast”. The line in question is: “It’s Snoop, of course, he’s the king, but he ain’t touching nothing I’m doing.”
Responding to the line, Snoop Dogg told Billboard, “At first, I was like, ‘What’s going on, man? Why they gotta do that?’ But then I realized it was just a commentary on the times. Kendrick’s just saying, ‘Yo, I’m the new wave, I’m the new Snoop Dogg.’ That’s just what happens, you know what I’m saying? New generations come in and they try to make their own name and their own path.”
Snoop Dogg also commended Kendrick on his skills, saying, “Kendrick’s a genius, man. He’s a genius. He’s a genius, and I mean that in all caps. He’s one of them kids that’s got the gift, and they don’t come along very often.”
When asked about the significance of being compared to him by Kendrick, Snoop Dogg replied, “If you’re being compared to the old heads, that means you’re doing something right. It means you’re making music that’s good, that’s real, that’s authentic.”
