[A small plane carrying 10 people crashed into an urban center in the southern Brazilian city of Gramado, killing all 10 occupants and injuring 17 others on the ground. The plane collided with a building, a residence, and a furniture store before bursting into flames and spreading debris throughout the area. At least 14 people were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, including two who are in serious condition with burns.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the tragedy, while the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, confirmed that the 10 people on the plane were all part of the same family. Leite said that two people injured in the crash seemed to be in serious condition due to burns.

Brazils President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent his condolences to the families of the victims, saying that he hopes the injured have a speedy recovery and that the Air Force is investigating the causes of the accident.

Gramado is a small mountain resort popular with tourists, especially around Christmas. The city was hosting various holiday attractions and events around the time of the tragedy. Sunday’s crash follows a previous incident in January, in which a passenger plane carrying 62 people crashed outside São Paulo, killing everyone on board.
