Relative of Slain Vermont US Border Patrol Agent Says ‘He Lived to Serve’
A relative of a Vermont US Border Patrol agent who was killed in the line of duty has spoken out about his sacrifice, saying that he “lived to serve”.
Border Patrol Agent Carlos Wolff, 34, was shot and killed on Friday evening while on patrol in Swanton, Vermont. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the U.S. Border Patrol, Agent Wolff was attacked by a 35-year-old man who had been trying to enter the United States illegally. The agent attempted to apprehend the man, but was fatally shot.
The agent’s cousin, Rachel Boucher, said that Agent Wolff’s death was a devastating blow to the family. “He lived to serve,” she said. “He loved his country, he loved his job, and he would do anything to protect it. He was an amazing person, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Agent Wolff was a 10-year veteran of the Border Patrol and had previously worked in Arizona and Texas before being stationed in Vermont. He was known for his dedication to his work and his love of his country.
The U.S. Border Patrol is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man responsible for Agent Wolff’s death. An investigation is ongoing.
Agent Wolff’s funeral is expected to be held in the coming days, and the Border Patrol is working with the family to make arrangements.
