Olympic gymnast Simone Biles Silences Critics with Photo Shoot Outfit, Igniting Social Media
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles made waves before the start of the NFL season by attending her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens’ preseason game in an outfit that fueled backlash. However, she silenced the critics with a different approach on Thursday night.
Biles arrived at Soldier Field in Chicago before the Bears’ Week 17 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks wearing an outfit decorated entirely with photographs of her husband’s face from his time with the Green Bay Packers. Her husband, Owens, reposted a photo of her to his Instagram Stories with the caption, “Ain’t she beautiful.”
Fans responded positively to the outfit, unlike last August when she wore a Packers-themed jacket that drew criticism. Unfazed by the backlash, Biles shared the photos on social media, captioning it, “Bear down.”
The change in wardrobe choice came after Owens, who was excused from the start of training camp to support his wife during the 2024 Paris Olympics, signed a two-year contract with the Bears in March. Biles went on to win four medals, including three gold, at the Olympics, bringing her total medal count to 11, the most by any American female gymnast.
Biles’ impressive performance in Paris earned her the runner-up spot for AP Female Athlete of the Year, behind WNBA star Caitlin Clark.
