Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter secure record-breaking disability insurance for their college football bowl game.

Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are taking a rare step by playing in their school’s bowl game, despite being NFL Draft bound. Both players have historic disability insurance policies to protect them in case of a serious injury during the Alamo Bowl on December 28 against BYU.

Head coach Deion Sanders revealed that the policies were taken out due to the high draft grades of the two players. Sanders said that the insurance policies are the highest ever in college football history, exceeding any previous coverage. Colorado’s athletic director Rick George confirmed Sanders’ statement.

Sanders and Hunter are projected to be top five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hunter won the Heisman Trophy as a two-way star, playing both wide receiver and cornerback for the Buffaloes. Sanders, the team’s quarterback, has completed 69.3% of his passes and thrown for 3,926 yards with 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

As top prospects, Sanders and Hunter have received exceptional coverage, including disability insurance, to protect them in case of an injury. The New York Giants currently hold the No. 1 pick in next April’s draft, putting them in prime position to draft one of Colorado’s stars.
