Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo, joined “The Faulkner Focus” to react to President Joe Biden’s decision to commute the death sentences of 37 federal inmates, including mass murderers and child killers. Schmitt called Biden’s decision “nuts” and stated that it cements Biden’s legacy as “one of the worst presidents” in American history.
According to Schmitt, the victims of the mass murderers and child killers being spared from execution should be remembered and the families affected by these heinous crimes should not be subjected to further pain. He specifically cited the case of Lexis Roberts, who was killed by her mother’s killer, Thomas Sanders, in a cold-blooded murder.
The commutations come just two weeks after Biden issued the “largest single-day grant of clemency” in American history. Of the 40 inmates on federal death row, Biden is commuting 37 men sentenced to death, reclassifying their sentences to life without the possibility of parole. The three inmates not included in the commutations are those responsible for mass shootings and murders, including Robert Bowers, Dylann Roof, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Schmitt criticized Biden’s decision to commute the sentences of these killers, stating that it is “beyond the pale” and “totally nuts.” He believes that Biden is trying to “Trump-proof” his presidency and is “cementing his status as one of our worst presidents” by making these decisions.
