Democrats Will Rely on Judges to Protect Biden’s Legacy
Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that Democrats will use the judiciary to protect Joe Biden’s White House legacy from Donald Trump and blunt the president-elect’s extreme agenda. This approach is modeled after the strategy used by Republicans during the presidency of George W. Bush, who focused on packing courts with conservative judges.
Schumer said that Biden, during his single term, prepared the ground for Democrats to use the courts by appointing 235 judges, surpassing the 234 appointed by Trump during his first term. The Democrat’s plan is to use the judiciary as a barrier against Trump’s actions and to counterbalance the conservative majority on the US Supreme Court, which was shifted to the right by Trump’s appointments.
The Democrat’s plan is to focus on appointing liberal judges to counterbalance those sympathetic to Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda. Schumer predicted that Trump and his supporters will try to dismantle all areas of Biden’s legislative record and use the judiciary in every way possible to achieve this goal.
The Democrat’s reliance on the judiciary is seen as a key component of their plan to fight back against Trump’s agenda, and Schumer believes that it will be one of the party’s strongest barriers against Trump’s actions.
