“I’m confident we will be ready, and we will make sure this city is as safe as Fort Knox,” Kennedy said during a stop in New Orleans, where he met with local leaders, officials, and law enforcement agencies.

The district attorney’s office announced it has charged three people with multiple counts of murder and conspiracy in connection with the deadly shooting and stabbings that left four people dead and seven injured. The victims ranged in age from 17 to 54. Two people were killed at a rally, while two others were slain at a nearby intersection.

Kennedy, a 2016 election winner who has been a vocal advocate for the city’s recovery efforts, said, “This is a tough, tough event, but we are resilient, and we are strong, and we will get through this.”

He also praised local law enforcement, saying, “I think we have some of the best and the bravest first responders in the country.”

The senator also expressed confidence in the ability of local authorities to ensure public safety during the Super Bowl, a major event expected to draw thousands of visitors. “We will make sure we have the resources we need to keep everyone safe,” he said.

Local officials have adopted several measures to ensure public safety, including increasing the number of security cameras, closing intersections, and implementing a no-fly zone over the city. Officials have also established communication hotlines and set up emergency medical facilities.

The Super Bowl is a major event for the city, generating significant revenue and attracting thousands of visitors. While there are concerns about safety, officials are determined to ensure the event runs smoothly and securely.

“New Orleans is a city that never gives up, never quits, and never surrenders,” Kennedy said. “And we will make sure this city is ready for the big game, no matter what adversity we face.”
