Geno Smith and Leonard Williams Star in Seahawks’ Upset Win Over Jets
Geno Smith and Leonard Williams were among the standout performers in the Seattle Seahawks’ 26-21 win over the New York Jets. Smith, a former Jets quarterback, and Williams, a former Jets defensive end, both put together solid performances in a revenge game of sorts.
Smith, who was drafted by the Jets in the second round in 2013, had 206 passing yards and one touchdown pass. Williams, who played for the Jets from 2015 to 2019, had two sacks and an interception returned 92 yards for a touchdown.
The Seahawks trailed 21-7 in the second quarter, but Smith led the team on a nine-play, 71-yard drive that ended with a Zach Charbonnet eight-yard touchdown run. Seattle’s defense then clamped down on the Jets’ offense in the second half, allowing just three points.
Aaron Rodgers, the Jets’ quarterback, was 21-of-39 with 185 yards and two touchdown passes. Davante Adams and Isaiah Davis each had touchdown catches.
The win marked the Seahawks’ third consecutive victory and improved their season record to 7-5. The Jets fell to 3-9 with the loss.
