Acting Secret Service Director and Texas Rep. Have Heated Exchange During Hearing on Failures that Led to Trump Assassination Attempts
During a hearing on the U.S. Secret Service’s failures that led to two attempted assassinations of President-elect Trump, Acting Director Ronald Rowe and Texas Rep. Pat Fallon got into a heated exchange on Thursday.
Fallon showed a picture of Presidents Biden and Trump at a 9/11 commemoration ceremony and asked Rowe, who was the Special Agent in Charge of the detail, if he was close enough to Biden to be in the picture. Rowe responded that the security detail was present but out of view of the camera, and became enraged, accusing Fallon of using 9/11 for political purposes.
In response, Fallon interrupted Rowe, shouting at him, asking if he was the special agent in charge that day. The exchange escalated, with Rowe shouting that Fallon was trying to “invoke 9/11 for political purposes” and accuse him of being “out of line.”
Committee chairman demanded order and banged his gavel, as the two continued to exchange heated words. Fallon accused Rowe of “playing politics” by refusing to answer his question, while Rowe accused him of being “out of line.”
