Scream 7 Destroys a Major Sidney Prescott Plot Twist from the Reboot Films.

Joel McHale to Play Mark Evans, Not Patrick Dempsey’s Mark Kincaid, in Scream 7

In a surprising move, it has been announced that Joel McHale will be playing the role of Mark Evans, Sidney Prescott’s husband, in the upcoming Scream 7. This revelation confirms that Mark Evans is a completely new character, contrary to what had previously been assumed. The role was originally suggested to be filled by Patrick Dempsey, who played Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3. However, McHale’s casting solidifies that Evans is a separate and distinct character from Kincaid.

In Scream 5, Sidney made a reference to her husband Mark while speaking on the phone with Dewey. Fans had previously assumed that Mark was Kincaid, based on their prior relationship. However, with the announcement of McHale’s casting, it is now clear that Sidney was actually talking about Mark Evans.

The revelation does provide some clarification on previous inconsistencies within the franchise. Mark Kincaid was not mentioned in Scream 4, which seemed unusual given his disappearance and subsequent re-appearance. McHale’s casting solves this mystery by introducing a new character, Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans. While this development is a letdown for fans hoping to see Dempsey reprise his role, it opens up new possibilities for the franchise.

Kevin Williamson, the original Scream screenwriter, has hinted at his plans to play with Sidney’s love life in the sequels. He has previously mentioned ideas involving Sidney’s past relationships, including her marriage to Billy Loomis. The introduction of Mark Evans offers new opportunities for storytelling and exploration.

While some fans may be disappointed by the turn of events, the new casting offers an exciting chance to reboot and redefine the franchise. Scream 7 has secured the return of original stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, along with director Kevin Williamson, providing a strong foundation for the new installment. Despite the changes, there is still potential for McHale’s Mark Evans to be a compelling character, and the franchise is expected to deliver its signature blend of horror, wit, and suspense.
