Legendary producer Scott Storch is opening up about his last-ditch effort to save the life of rapper DMX, following the tragic passing of the pioneer in April 2021. Storch, who has worked with names like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé, told THE NEW YORK TIMES, “I did CPR on him two times in his bedroom. I was the first one there.”

According to Storch, DMX had been in a coma for several days before they first found him unresponsive at his home in White Plains, New York. Storch, who rushed to the scene, immediately started performing CPR on the rapper, trying to revive him. “I just put my heart and soul into it,” he stressed, “I’m not saying it was the right thing, I’m just saying it was what I had to do.”

Additionally, Storch revealed that DMX’s family was in attendance during the life-saving efforts, watching as their loved one struggled to recover. “His mom stayed there, his kids stayed there, everybody stayed there,” he explained. “It was a real emotional, emotional situation.” Despite their tireless efforts, ultimately, DMX passed away, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generation after generation of rappers and fans worldwide.
