Colombian School Bus Driver Allegedly Held 7-Year-Old Girl Captive for Over a Decade
A Colombian school bus driver, Carlos Humberto Grisales Higuita, is facing charges of kidnapping, sexual abuse, and pornography after allegedly holding a 7-year-old girl captive for over a decade.
According to prosecutors in Medellín, Colombia, Grisales Higuita abducted the girl in early 2012 and took her to a house in the city center. He allegedly psychologically manipulated and sexually assaulted her, making her believe that the behavior was normal.
During her captivity, the girl’s name was changed, and she was taken to various buildings in Medellín and Bello, a city and suburb of Medellín. She was also kept out of school.
The girl escaped in February of this year after complaining to her captor about the treatment she received. She had initially been reported missing 12 years ago.
Grisales Higuita was arrested by the National Police in Medellín and has denied the charges brought against him. He remains held in custody by local authorities.
The case has sparked outrage in Colombia, with many calling for justice for the victim and her family.
