Scary Movie reboot targets a 2026 release.

A New Release Date for the Scary Movie Reboot

The Scary Movie franchise, known for its horror parodies, is set to return from the grave with a new release date. Marlon Wayans, one of the franchise’s creators, took to Instagram to confirm that the reboot is currently slated for release on June 12, 2026. This marks a 13-year gap between the movies in the franchise, with the last installment, Scary Movie 5, being released in 2013.

Production for the reboot has yet to kick off, but with the new release date, it is likely that filming will begin this year to ensure the film is ready for its scheduled release. This could mean that casting news is not far behind.

One character is confirmed to return in the reboot, with Ghostface, the franchise’s iconic villain, set to make a comeback. Original actor Dave Sheridan has hinted that the movie will follow a similar structure to 2022’s Scream, which could see familiar faces from the franchise return, including Anna Faris and Regina Hall.

The Scary Movie franchise has gained a new appreciation in recent years, with social media allowing fans to share their favorite moments online. While some elements of the franchise may not have aged well, its absurd and funny clips have audiences eager to see the Wayans revive Scary Movie for a new generation. With an official release date now set, fans will be counting down until horror’s worst masked killer descends onto theaters once more.
