Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley set a record for the most rushing yards in a single game by an Eagles player with 255 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Barkley’s performance came just four yards shy of Jamaal Charles’ single-game record of 259 yards, and he finished with the ninth most rushing yards in a single game in NFL history. He also had four catches for 47 yards in the game.
Barkley was the sparkplug the Eagles needed, running for a 70-yard touchdown to jumpstart the team coming out of halftime. He added another touchdown in the fourth quarter, taking a handoff from Jalen Hurts and zooming through the Rams’ secondary for 72 yards.
Hurts was 15-of-22 for 179 yards and had a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown, who had six catches for 109 yards. Kenneth Gainwell added a touchdown late in the third quarter to add to the Eagles’ lead.
The Rams, led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, struggled to keep up with the Eagles’ high-powered offense. Stafford was 24-of-36 for 243 yards, but the Rams’ offense was unable to answer Barkley’s big plays.
The Eagles’ win moves them to 9-2 on the season and increases their NFC East lead over the Washington Commanders. The Rams fell to 5-6 on the season, and their loss means the NFC West remains a competitive division with the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers both picking up wins on Sunday.
