Sam Darnold celebrates “pretty special” locker room moment after Vikings defeat Packers.

Quarterback Sam Darnold has had an impressive 2024 season, with 12 games featuring multiple pass touchdowns, tied for the most in Vikings history alongside Kirk Cousins in 2020 and 2021. His 13 games with a 100-plus passer rating are tied for the second-most in a single season since 1950, behind only Aaron Rodgers’ MVP season in 2020.

Coach Kevin O’Connell has shown his trust in Darnold, calling three passes for the quarterback with the game on the line. Darnold completed all three passes, including a crucial first down on the final play to seal the win.

O’Connell praised Darnold’s ability to make good decisions, stating that he’s playing quarterback at a “very, very high level.” The Vikings are on the verge of securing the No. 1 seed in their division with a win in their next game against the Detroit Lions.
