Shocking Footage Shows Russians Being Rounded Up in Nightclubs to Fight in Ukraine
Shocking footage has emerged of Russians being rounded up in nightclubs in Moscow to be conscripted to fight in the war in Ukraine. The footage, shared by Igor Sushko on social media, shows young Russians being told to sit down in a nightclub where the music has been turned off. A police officer is seen walking around the room, seemingly looking for young men who are outraged at Vladimir Putin’s plan to send additional men to the front line.
According to Sushko, Putin regime enforcers raided three major Moscow nightclubs on Friday night, with many men being taken to military conscription offices. Women were eventually released after their passports were photographed, while the raids, led by police K9 units, lasted for hours.
This development comes as Russia has lost over 2,000 men in a single day of fighting this week, according to Kyiv’s figures, but has also made rapid gains in the east of Ukraine. Ukraine claims that Russia has suffered around 700,000 casualties since the start of the war, while Russia claims that Ukraine has suffered 700,000 “irreparable losses”.
The move is the latest in a series of measures by the Russian government to try to increase troop numbers as the war drags on. Last month, images emerged of Ukrainian conscription officers taking young men out of nightclubs, under Ukraine’s martial laws, which allow men between 25 and 60 to be eligible for conscription and those aged between 18 and 60 to be banned from leaving the country.
In April, Ukraine reduced its mobilization age from 27 to 25 due to a shortage of fighters. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has hinted that he may be willing to give up some territory occupied by Russia in order to secure a peace deal, but has made it clear that such a deal would involve Ukraine joining NATO.
