Russian strikes in Ukraine kill six, including in Kyiv, officials report.

Russian Forces Unleash Combined Drone and Missile Strike on Kyiv, Ukraine

Russian forces launched a coordinated drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, early on Saturday, killing three people and wounding three others. The assault also damaged several buildings, including a shopping mall, business centre, metro station, and water pipe.

Air defenses were activated against the attack, which involved the launch of drones and a ballistic-missile strike. Rescue workers were seen examining debris and loading a body bag into a truck, while the charred remains of a van were visible in front of the damaged metro station.

In addition to the attack on Kyiv, Russian forces struck the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, killing one person and wounding 11, while shelling in the southern region of Kherson killed two people.

The Ukrainian military reported destroying 24 of 39 drones and two of four missiles launched by Russia during the overnight attack. The country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, called for those who support Russia’s war efforts to face “pressure as impactful as these strikes.”

The attack on Kyiv is the latest in a series of air strikes carried out by Russia since the start of its invasion of Ukraine almost three years ago, targeting critical infrastructure and civilian areas.
