Rudy Giuliani Reaches $150 Million Settlement with Georgia Election Workers
Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and lawyer for then-President Donald Trump, has reached an agreement with two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, to settle a nearly $150 million judgment against him. The settlement brings an end to a yearslong saga over Giuliani’s false statements after the 2020 presidential election.
As part of the agreement, Giuliani will be able to keep his home and most valuable possessions, including his $3.5 million Florida condo and several New York Yankees World Series rings. Freeman and Moss had already been awarded Giuliani’s most valuable possessions, including his $6 million Manhattan apartment, luxury watches, and baseball memorabilia, but had struggled to collect some of the items in recent months.
Giuliani had been in litigation with the women over whether his Florida condo is his primary residence and can be exempt from their debt collection efforts. Freeman and Moss said in a statement that they are relieved to have reached an agreement and can now move forward with their lives. They agreed to allow Giuliani to retain his property in exchange for compensation and his promise not to ever defamate them again.
Giuliani’s attorney, Joseph Cammarata, refused to answer questions about the details of the settlement, including whether any money was involved. The former mayor has been struggling with physical health issues and has been facing contempt of court charges for not following court orders. He had been scheduled to go to trial this week but will instead attend events around Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration.
The settlement marks a significant turning point in the long-running case, which has taken a toll on all parties involved. Giuliani’s net worth is estimated at $10 million, and even if he had been forced to pay the full $150 million judgment, millions of dollars would have been needed to match even the most basic debts Freeman and Moss had against him.
