Roseanne Barr produces ‘Saving America’ comedy series.

Roseanne Barr Plotting TV Comeback with “Trump 2.0”-Inspired Series

Roseanne Barr, who was fired by Disney from her ABC show in 2018, is gearing up for a TV comeback. The comedian is writing a new comedy series, which she claims is a “cross between ‘The Roseanne Show’ and ‘The Sopranos’.” The show, set in Alabama, follows a small-town farmer who saves the US from drug gangs and China while dabbling in growing and selling drugs.

The series, which will star Barr and feature a similar family setup to her popular show “Roseanne,” has been described as “silly and out there” with “very offensive ideas and a lot of swearing.” Barr has drawn inspiration from her own life as a farmer in Hawaii, and the show is expected to follow a family with similarities to the Conners from her previous series.

Barr’s new show is being pitched to Hollywood studios, but if they don’t bite, she’s willing to self-fund the project and release it herself. The former TV star is confident that there’s a market for her kind of content, citing the recent presidential election results as proof.

Barr blames Disney for firing her from “Roseanne” in 2018, citing a tweet where she referred to Valerie Jarrett as the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.” She claims Disney CEO Bob Iger called Jarrett and Michelle Obama to orchestrate her removal, which she says was done despite no sponsors pulling out.

However, Barr notes that the entertainment industry has changed since Trump’s first presidency. Many influential players in tech and media have cozied up to the president, and she believes this could bode well for her comeback.

“I don’t give a fuck either way,” Barr said about potential suitors. “I’d like to get paid handsomely to bring another shit fucking network back from doom as I’ve done twice for ABC. But I just don’t see how they would keep their nose out of my business.”
