Robert Pattinson’s Batman Would Be Better Off Staying Solo.

Robert Pattinson’s Batman Joining the New DC Universe May Not Be the Best Scenario for the Dark Knight

Robert Pattinson has become the latest star to play Batman, debuting as Bruce Wayne in 2022’s The Batman, with at least two more sequels on the way. However, the progress on The Batman – Part II has been slow, with director Matt Reeves still working on finishing the script, leading to delays. The original release date was pushed to 2026 before being moved to October 1, 2027.

Rumors have circulated about how DC might retool the project to allow Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne to become the DCU’s Batman, but recently, Andy Muschietti, the director of Batman’s The Brave and the Bold movie, revealed that the two franchises will remain separate for several important reasons.

One of the main reasons is that The DCU will feature a fully formed Bat-Family, including key characters like Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, which would not be feasible with Pattinson’s Batman being alone. Additionally, Matt Reeves has expressed a strong desire for the Batman universe to remain separate, with James Gunn confirming that The Batman would remain an Elseworld’s franchise, separate from DCU canon.

Furthermore, the DCU already has a main hero in David Corenswet’s Superman, who will star in the first DCU movie, directed by James Gunn. The Man of Steel will be the focus of the franchise, making Pattinson’s Batman a significant but secondary character, unlike in his own universe.
