Ridley Scott Reveals Surprising Reason Why He May Not Collaborate with Paul Mescal Again

Ad

Director Ridley Scott has hinted that he may not team up with Gladiator II star Paul Mescal for their next project, The Dog Stars. Scott revealed during a conversation with filmmaker Christopher Nolan that Mescal may be too busy filming a Beatles movie to star in The Dog Stars.

It appears that Mescal has been approached to play a member of the iconic band in Sam Mendes’ four-movie Beatles biopic. Although no official casting announcements have been made, Scott’s comment suggests that Mescal will likely play Paul McCartney in the upcoming biopic.

Mescal and Scott previously collaborated on Gladiator II, where Mescal played Lucius, the son of Russell Crowe’s Maximus from the first Gladiator movie. Mescal received praise for his role, in which he seeks revenge against the Roman Empire for the death of his wife.

If Mescal does end up playing McCartney, it would be a significant role in a highly anticipated project. The four-movie Beatles biopic is set to explore the lives of the band’s four members, and Mescal’s attachment to the project has generated excitement among fans.

While it remains to be seen whether Mescal will join the Beatles biopic or focus on The Dog Stars, Scott’s comment hints that Mescal’s plate may be full with the upcoming project.
