[Dick Parsons, a renowned American businessman and former CEO of Time Warner and Citigroup, has passed away at the age of 76. Parsons was a prominent figure in Corporate America, known for his problem-solving skills and leadership abilities. During his career, he steered major companies through periods of distress, including the dot-com bust and the Great Recession.

Parsons is credited with Time Warner’s remarkable turnaround after the botched AOL merger, in which he successfully slashed the company’s debt by half and implemented a new era of sustainable growth. He later led Citigroup as chairman, overseeing the complex restructuring process after the 2008 financial crisis.

Parsons was also an influential figure in politics, serving as an economic adviser to President Barack Obama and working on the transition team for former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg. He began his career as a lawyer for former New York governor Nelson Rockefeller and later served as a White House aide during President Gerald Ford’s administration.

Parsons had a long history of leadership positions, including his time as interim CEO of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014. Throughout his career, he was widely respected for his steady hand, wise advice, and ability to navigate complex challenges.

Born on April 4, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, Parsons grew up in a middle-class family and graduated from the University of Hawaii. He later graduated at the top of his class at Albany Law School and became a partner at the law firm Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler.

Parsons’ death was confirmed by his employer, Lazard, where he served on the board. “Dick’s storied career embodied the finest traditions of American business leadership,” the company said in a statement.

Parsons’ legacy will be remembered as a testament to his remarkable business acumen and leadership abilities, as well as his commitment to public service.
