Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene Highlights Reporter’s Foreign Accent, Suggests “Throwing Out” Foreign Press
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently posted a clip of White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt discussing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices in the aviation sector, highlighting the foreign accent of the reporter who asked the question. Greene praised Leavitt’s response and suggested that there should be a move to “throw out” foreign press, stating that “American media first”.
The clip showed Leavitt explaining the executive order terminating DEI hiring practices at the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) amid an investigation into Wednesday’s fatal mid-air collision between a passenger plane and a military helicopter. Greene praised Leavitt’s response and referred to the reporter’s non-American accent, saying that there should be a move to “throw out” foreign press.
The incident has sparked controversy, with somepeople accusing Greene of xenophobia and anti-foreign reporter sentiment. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision, with a preliminary report expected to be released in 30 days and a final report expected to take much longer.
