Trey Songz Ordered To Pay $11.2M To Cop Over Alleged Assault

Singer Trey Songz has been ordered to pay $11.2 million in damages to a police officer who alleged that he physically assaulted him during an incident at a Miami hotel in 2019. The case was settled in a Broward County court on Monday, with the judge delivering the verdict following a lengthy and turbulent legal battle.

According to reports, the singer, whose real name is Anton Markeith, was accused of physically attacking police officer Leonardo Damian at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in 2019. The officer claimed that Songz attacked him, resulting in permanent injuries, when the officer attempted to enter the singer’s hotel room to investigate a noise complaint.

The case was initially dismissed, but the officer appealed the decision, and the case was reopened and litigated. The judge’s verdict, which favored the officer, finds Songz guilty of battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. As part of the settlement, Songz has been ordered to pay the officer $11.2 million in damages.
