A second NFL team is set to interview Robert Saleh for their head coaching vacancy. The Raiders, who fired Antonio Pierce on Tuesday, have lined up an interview with Saleh, according to ProFootballTalk. Saleh is also set to interview with the Jaguars for their head coaching job. The 45-year-old was fired by the Jets in October after finishing his three-plus-year tenure with a 20-36 record.
Saleh has been working as a consultant with the Packers under his friend, head coach Matt LaFleur, since his departure from the Jets. The Raiders’ opening is considered the most intriguing of the six NFL head coaching openings, with Tom Brady, a minority owner with the team, reportedly reaching out to his longtime coach Bill Belichick about the possibility of a reunion in Vegas.
However, Belichick is not planning on leaving his current role as head coach at North Carolina, The Athletic reported. Mike Vrabel, a hot coaching candidate, could be in the middle of a tug-of-war between his former quarterback, Brady, and his former owner, Robert Kraft, as the Patriots fired Jerod Mayo after just one season.
