Brock Bowers Makes History as First Rookie Tight End to Reach 1,000 Receiving Yards
Brock Bowers, a first-year tight end, has made history by becoming the third rookie to record 1,000 receiving yards in NFL history. He achieved this feat during Sunday’s 19-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bowers reached 1,000 yards with a 32-yard pass from quarterback Aidan O’Connell in the first quarter, becoming the first 2024 rookie pass catcher to hit the mark this season. In the fourth quarter, he caught his 10th pass of the game and his 100th for the season, becoming the first rookie tight end to reach the mark.
Bowers joined the Chicago Bears’ Mike Ditka (1961) and the Atlanta Falcons’ Kyle Pitts (2021) as the only first-year TEs to hit 1K. He was taken 13th overall by the Raiders in the 2024 NFL Draft. On Sunday, he had 11 receptions for 99 yards, bringing his season totals to 101 catches for 1,067 yards.
