Title: Eagles’ Passing Game Struggles Continue in Wild Card Win
The Philadelphia Eagles’ passing game has been a source of concern in recent weeks, and Sunday’s Wild Card Round win over the Green Bay Packers was no exception. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for just 131 yards, his lowest total in a start since Week 15. In his last six starts, Hurts has thrown for 200-plus yards only once, and has reached 250-plus yards just four times in 17 starts, including playoffs.
Wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has struggled with a knee injury, dropped a deep pass late in the first half that could have gone for 40-plus yards. Brown has not led the Eagles in receiving yards in any of his five playoff games with the team.
Hurts acknowledged that the passing game struggled, saying “We just didn’t connect. Just didn’t connect this time around. It’s been a minute in general since we’ve done that as a whole.” Coach Nick Sirianni attributed the struggles to a combination of factors, including play calls, the defense making plays, and the knee injuries affecting Hurts and Brown.
Despite the passing game struggles, the Eagles were able to win thanks to a strong running game led by Saquon Barkley. The team will likely continue to rely on the ground game in the NFC Conference Championship against the Washington Commanders, who they have averaged 219.5 yards against in two meetings this year.
