Indiana Quarterback Kurtis Rourke’s Impressive Season Marred by Injury
Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke has been playing through an impressive amount of pain and injury this season, and his impressive performance has earned him a College Football Playoff berth and a spot in the NFL Draft.
Rourke first tore his ACL at the end of the 2022 season, and despite the injury, he played through it this season. His agent revealed that Rourke re-torn his ACL in August and played through the injury, a feat that is nothing short of remarkable.
But Rourke’s injury woes didn’t stop there. During a game against Nebraska, he broke his thumbnail on his throwing hand after being hit, and subsequent X-rays revealed that he had broken a bone in his thumb. Despite the injury, Rourke underwent surgery just days later and returned to play against Michigan State with two screws in his thumb.
Rourke’s impressive play didn’t slow down, and he threw four touchdown passes in the Hoosiers’ 47-10 win over the Spartans while wearing a splint under his glove. He finished the season with a completion percentage of 69.4%, throwing for 3042 yards and 29 touchdowns compared to just five interceptions.
Despite playing through multiple injuries, Rourke finished ninth in Heisman voting and will be entering the NFL Draft. His impressive performance this season has earned him a spot in the draft, and it will be interesting to see where he lands.
