Rally Against Trump’s Immigration Crackdown Blocks LA Freeway

Ad

A large protest opposing the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown took place in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, with hundreds of demonstrators marching and chanting on the 101 Freeway. The rally, which police described as a “non-permitted demonstration,” made its way to City Hall before moving onto the freeway.

Video footage showed protesters holding up signs referencing President Donald Trump’s harsh stance on immigration, as they blocked the freeway. The demonstration caused Spring Street to be closed from 1st Street to Temple Street, but by 1:30 p.m., the protesters had moved off the freeway and lanes were reopened.

Another group of protesters also blocked the 101 Freeway near Boyle Heights, with police officers attempting to get them to head west and off the freeway. The rallies were a show of opposition to the Trump administration’s immigration policies, with protesters demanding change and an end to the crackdown.
