President Joe Biden Awards Liz Cheney the Presidential Medal of Freedom



President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, during a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday.

“Liz has devoted her life to public service, and her dedication to this country is an inspiration to us all,” President Biden said in a statement.

Cheney, who served as a commissioner of public lands in Wyoming from 2003 to 2009, is known for her work in the conservation movement and her efforts to protect public lands. She has also been involved in various non-profit organizations, including the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded by the President to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, or to world peace, or to a successful.finding of the Constitution. It is the highest civilian honor that can be bestowed by the President.
