Fugees’ Pras Michel May Get Pardoned By Donald Trump
Pras Michel, a founding member of the legendary hip-hop group Fugees, could be on the verge of having his felony bribery conviction pardoned by President Donald Trump.
Michel pleaded guilty in 2017 to charges of honest services wire fraud and conspiracy in connection with his work as the global chairman of the company Exclusive Roberts Global in Equatorial Guinea. He was sentenced to three years of probation and fined $20,000.
However, in a strange twist, Pras Michel was listed as one of the prominent figures who dined with the President at his Mar-a-Lago resort during the President’s meeting with Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Gueye.
Michel, whose real name is Prasrajna Menon, served as the music supervisor for The Roots’ NBC series “The Tonight Show” and has collaborated with other famous artists, including Beyoncé. His connection to Trump, Equatorial Guinea and the bribery charge has raised some eyebrows in the hip-hop world.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, a pardon for Michel could potentially open up new legal avenues for those facing similar charges.
