Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson has been suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team, according to General Manager Eric DeCosta. DeCosta revealed that Johnson’s suspension was due to his refusal to enter the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

DeCosta said it was a “difficult decision” to suspend Johnson, who will miss the team’s game against the New York Giants after the bye week. The suspension is not good news for Johnson, who is set to become a free agent after this season.

Johnson has struggled to find his place on the Ravens since being traded from the Carolina Panthers, playing just 16% of the team’s offensive snaps over four games, including one start. He has caught just one pass for six yards since joining the Ravens, a significant drop-off from his production with the Carolina Panthers, where he was the leading receiver through the first seven games of the season.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson expressed disappointment in Johnson’s suspension, saying, “He’s a great receiver. We didn’t get him from the Panthers for nothing.” Johnson was once a Pro Bowler with the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning 107 receptions for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns in 2021. Prior to his trade, he had 4,363 yards on 391 catches and 25 receiving touchdowns over 77 games with the Steelers.
