Six Teenagers Charged in Deadly Series of Unprovoked Attacks in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police Inspector Raymond Evers announced that six teenagers have been charged in connection with a series of unprovoked attacks that took place on the afternoon of November 19 in Philadelphia. The attacks, which left several victims injured, occurred within the span of an hour.

The first attack occurred at around 3 pm, when a homeless man was punched in the face by one of the suspects near the intersection of 15th and Chestnut streets. Minutes later, a 14-year-old girl punched a 24-year-old woman from behind near 17th and Chestnut streets. The rest of the teenagers then joined in, punching the woman as she was on the ground, resulting in her suffering a concussion.

The group then moved on to the 200 block of North 19th Street, where a 31-year-old man was punched and chased. Shortly after, a 40-year-old woman was punched near the Target on 20th and Callowhill streets.

Surveillance footage of the group of teenagers was released, and a day after its release, the 14-year-old girl turned herself in with her parents. The other five suspects followed suit, surrendering to police with their parents the next day.

The teenagers face multiple charges, including aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment. Police are still investigating the motive behind the attacks, with Evers describing them as “unprovoked.”
