Las Vegas Raiders Hire Pete Carroll as New Head Coach

The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly agreed to a deal that would make Pete Carroll their next head coach. Carroll, a coaching veteran, will take over the team after Antonio Pierce’s one-season tenure as interim head coach. Pierce had appeared to turn the locker room around, leading the Raiders to a 5-4 record in their final nine games, but the team struggled to a 4-13 record this season due to poor quarterback play.

Carroll, who will turn 74 at the beginning of the NFL season, has a wealth of experience, having coached the Seattle Seahawks for 14 seasons and leading them to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, including one win. He also coached the USC Trojans for 10 seasons, winning four Rose Bowls and five division titles.

The Raiders have undergone a major revamp, also firing general manager Tom Telesco just days after getting rid of Pierce. Carroll was given a three-year deal with a team option for a fourth year. The team has the sixth overall pick in the upcoming draft, which may not be ideal for them as they desperately need a quarterback.

Carroll becomes the fourth head coach for the Raiders since the turn of the decade, joining Jon Gruden, Josh McDaniels, and Pierce. He will look to turn the team around and lead them to success in the future.
