A Pennsylvania Man Faces Charges of Attempting to Join Hezbollah, Allegedly Told Family His “Master Plan” Was to “Kill Jews”

A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted Jack Danaher Molloy, a 24-year-old Pennsylvania man who previously served in the U.S. Army, for attempting to join the terrorist group Hezbollah. The Department of Justice (DOJ) alleges that Molloy, a dual U.S. and Irish citizen, attempted to join the Iran-backed organization multiple times.

According to an affidavit, Molloy converted to Islam in 2024 and contacted people in Lebanon about becoming a Hezbollah fighter. He also traveled to Syria in October 2024 to attempt to join the group, and lied to FBI agents about his intentions on his return flight to the U.S.

Authorities allege that Molloy had expressed hatred and promoted violence against Jewish people via social media, posting antisemitic sentiments online. He also allegedly told a family member that his “master plan” was to join Hezbollah and kill Jews.

Molloy faces a maximum penalty of 28 years in prison if convicted. He also faces charges for making false statements involving international terrorism to a department or agency of the United States, which could result in up to eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
