Patrick Mahomes leads Chiefs to AFC title game despite recent fatherhood, with Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift showing support.

Kansas City Chiefs Just Two Wins Away from History-Making Super Bowl Victory

The Kansas City Chiefs are one step closer to becoming the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls, thanks to their 23-12 divisional round win over the Houston Texans. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the team to victory, throwing for 177 yards and a touchdown just days after welcoming his third child, daughter Golden Raye.

Mahomes took the field alongside an entourage of celebrity fans, including girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was accompanied by WNBA star Caitlin Clark. The Chiefs are now just two wins away from history, and will face the winner of the Buffalo Bills-Ravens game in the AFC championship next weekend.

The win marks the seventh consecutive season that the Chiefs have advanced to the AFC championship game, and they will look to change the trend of the three previous teams that lost after winning back-to-back Super Bowls. Mahomes improved his playoff record to 16-3, tying Joe Montana for the second-most wins in NFL playoff history.

The Texans, who have never won in six divisional games, were led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, who threw for 245 yards but was sacked eight times. The team’s kicker, Kai’imi Fairbairn, missed a 55-yard field goal attempt and an extra-point try, and had another field goal attempt blocked with 1:46 left.

The Chiefs will look to make history next weekend, and Mahomes will continue to lead the charge. With an impressive playoff record and a strong supporting cast, the team is poised to make a run at the Super Bowl once again.
