Patrick Mahomes Injures Ankle in Cliff-Notes Chaos

Patrick Mahomes Suffers Injury in Kansas City Chiefs’ Win Over Cleveland Browns

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered an ankle injury during the team’s win over the Cleveland Browns, leaving his availability for the final two games of a demanding stretch uncertain. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter and forced backup quarterback Carson Wentz into the game.

Mahomes said that his X-rays were negative, and he will likely undergo rehabilitation and treatment to assess his condition. “We’ll get into the rehab part, the treatment part and try to get back on a short week,” he said. However, he acknowledged that it’s hard to gauge his chances of playing without the adrenaline of the game wearing off.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed that Mahomes’ ankle was not broken, but the quarterback expressed concerns about playing three games in an 11-day span. “It’s not a good feeling,” he said. “You never want to play this amount of games in this short of time. It’s not great for your body. But at the end of the day, it’s your job, your profession, you have to come to work and do it.”

Mahomes also revealed that he had never heard of a team playing three games in such a short span, and acknowledged the demands it puts on his body. He credited the team’s coaches with helping to manage the practice schedule and ensure they’re prepared to play. The team’s next two games are against the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the latter being played on Christmas Day.
