Patrick Mahomes’ Mother Announces Grandfather’s Hospice Care Ahead of AFC Championship Game
Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, took to Instagram to announce that her father, Randy, is in hospice care. This news comes just days before Mahomes is set to lead the Kansas City Chiefs against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game.
Randi shared the news with a heartfelt post, writing, “My dad is in hospice and I’m lost for words.” She also shared a Bible verse, Colossians 3:20, which says, “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
This news comes just under two weeks after Mahomes and his wife Brittany welcomed their third child, daughter Golden Raye, into the world. The news also comes during a tumultuous time for the Mahomes family, who have faced a number of challenges in recent months.
In March, Mahomes’ brother Jackson was sentenced to six months probation for allegedly assaulting a woman. In August, Brittany faced backlash on social media after liking a post from President Donald Trump’s Instagram account. Trump himself weighed in on the controversy, thanking Brittany for her support.
Mahomes’ father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was also sentenced to 10 days in jail and five years probation for driving under the influence of alcohol in February.
Despite the distractions, Mahomes has led the Chiefs to a 15-2 regular season record and is looking to become the first quarterback in history to win three straight Super Bowls. The Chiefs will face the Bills on Sunday in the AFC Championship game, with Mahomes looking to lead his team to victory and send his grandfather a message of love and support during his time of need.
