Scary Moment for Panthers Rookie Ja’Tavion Sanders as He’s Carted Off Field with Neck Injury
A frightening incident occurred during Sunday’s game between the Carolina Panthers and the Kansas City Chiefs as rookie tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders was carted off the field with a neck injury. Sanders, a fourth-round draft pick, was hit while fighting for a first down and fell to the ground, with the crown of his helmet making contact with the turf.
The 21-year-old was taken off the field on a stretcher, raising his arms as he was being transported to a local hospital. The Panthers have not provided an update on Sanders’ status, other than confirming that it is a neck injury.
Sanders, a two-time First-team All-American at Texas, had started five of 10 games this season and had recorded 26 catches for 253 yards and a touchdown. He was facing his former college teammate Xavier Worthy, who was drafted in the first round by the Chiefs.
The Chiefs had a 20-9 lead at halftime, thanks to two touchdowns by Noah Gray.
