Oscar Mayer’s 50-Year-Old Ad Brings Nostalgia to the First Thanksgiving Day NFL Game

Ad

Oscar Mayer ran a 50-year-old ad during the Detroit Lions-Chicago Bears game on Thanksgiving Day, featuring its iconic jingle. The 1974 ad starred then-4-year-old actor Andy Lambros singing “My bologna has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R. My bologna has a second name, it’s M-A-Y-E-R.” The ad was a blast from the past, and many on social media expressed their happiness to see it again on TV.

The ad was originally intended to feature a group of children singing the jingle, but the director challenged the kids to see if they could do it as a solo act. Lambros stepped up and hit it, even asking, “How’s that?” at the end while taking a bite of the sandwich.

The ad brought back tons of memories for many as they enjoyed their time watching some football on Thanksgiving. Fans took to social media to express their nostalgia, with one user posting, “Best commercial ever! So glad to see it again on TV!!” Another added, “Awwww what nostalgia.”
