Ohio State Buckeyes Standout Jack Sawyer Reflects on Whirlwind National Championship Run
Ohio State Buckeyes linebacker Jack Sawyer has been in the midst of a whirlwind 48 hours, capped off by the team’s national championship victory over Notre Dame on Monday night. Sawyer, along with star quarterback Will Howard, stopped by Raising Cane’s in Columbus, Ohio, where they were greeted by a crowd of fans eager to congratulate them on their championship season.
The end of the season marks the beginning of the NFL Draft process for both Sawyer and Howard, who are set to become draft prospects. Sawyer’s draft stock skyrocketed during the College Football Playoff run, including a strip-sack, scoop-and-score against his former Ohio State roommate, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, to seal the Buckeyes’ victory in the Cotton Bowl.
Sawyer credits his faith for playing a large role in his success, saying it’s “everything to us” and that it’s helped him and his teammates stay motivated and focused throughout the season. He also reflected on the team’s resilience in the face of adversity, including a loss to Michigan that many thought would derail their championship hopes.
Sawyer’s personal growth and development throughout the season have been evident, and he believes his faith will continue to play a major role in his life moving forward. “Anything’s possible with God, and I’m going to keep trusting his plan,” he said.
As the NFL Scouting Combine approaches and the NFL Draft draws near, Sawyer is focused on giving his all to make an impact at the next level. But he won’t stress about the process, knowing that his faith will remain a constant guide.
