Ohio State’s Offense Boasts Plenty of Talent Against Notre Dame’s Stingy Defense
Ohio State’s offense has a significant edge over Notre Dame’s defense, thanks to its array of talented playmakers. Quarterback C.J. Stroud has two of the best receivers in the country at his disposal, including Emeka Egbuka and freshman Jeremiah Smith. Sophomore Carnell Tate led the team in receiving on Friday, and the Buckeyes’ running backs, Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, can run with power, contact balance, and speed.
Notre Dame’s defense, on the other hand, features a plethora of NFL talent, particularly on the defensive line. Defensive tackle Howard Cross III and linebacker Jack Kiser are both highly touted prospects, while safety Xavier Watts and slot cornerback Jordan Clark are leaders in the secondary. However, the Buckeyes’ offense is well-equipped to test the Irish defense, with its ability to fire the ball downfield to its array of pass catchers or lean on its running backs.
Ohio State’s defense, meanwhile, is anchored by its strong defensive line, featuring edge rushers Jack Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau, as well as defensive tackles Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton. The secondary is led by sophomore Caleb Downs, who sealed the win over Texas with an interception, and features veteran pieces such as safety Lathan Ransom, cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Davison Igbinosun, and nickelback Jordan Hancock.
